Targets to plant 2500 trees
UDHAMPUR, JULY 31: As a part of ‘Van Mahotsava’ celebration, the district administration Udhampur today launched a mega plantation drive in the premises of Kendriya Vidyalaya Chenani.
District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest who formally launched the drive by planting a sapling while Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chenani was the guest of honour.
The district administration has set a target of planting around 2500 trees in the school campus and its surroundings.
Addressing the students, the DDC appreciated the efforts made by the school management for organizing the massive plantation drive to enhance the beauty of the local environment.
Expressing his concern over the increasing graph of global warming, he said that it was the need of the hour to understand alarming situation and to come forward for the protection and conservation of the environment by planting maximum number of trees. On the occasion, the DDC also appealed the general masses to preserve green gold.
Besides, District/Sectoral officers of various departments, a large number of school children, their parents, prominent citizens, representatives of NGO, Chanakya Youth Inspiring Society, Chenani participated in the drive.
